Default 2004 xlt w/concole thinking of adding one with a shifter

I have a 2004 XLT with two capitain chairs and a console. I was thinking about changing my cosole to one with a shifter . First question is can this be done. I looks straight foward but looking for the experts to chime in. I appears there are 4 bolts that old the current console inplace and loos east to remove. Not sure if the new console used the same bolts. Please help.

Subscribed! I'm also curious if the shifter can be moved to the center console and how much work is involved

It can be done but is pretty intensive....... best thing would be to find a wrecked truck with the shifter in the console...

It's not as easy as bolting it in and plugging it in, the center part of the dash needs swapped also. Then there is removing the old shifter..

I see you're new. Welcome aboard! You need to use the search; search on "floor shift" or "console swap" and you will see it has come up in the past quite a few times. Folks don't respond much these days to questions that are duplicated or have been talked about in the past.

The hardest part will be to swap the dash, as the center part of the dash for console shift trucks has a protrusion to connect to the center console with shifter.

Plus the replacement of the steering column.

yes i noticed that the dash was different, and Im not sure how expensive it will be to change. I found the floor shifter and it was less that 300.00 but I am betting the dash will be very expensive.
