2004 Heritage with V6 - Engine Died while Driving
I've never had a problem with this truck until last week.
Everything seemed perfectly normal, I had a strong battery, 3/4 full tank and everything in working order. I was driving down the road at about 50 MPH when I suddenly felt as if the gas pedal just stopped relaying information to the engine; I was just coasting. I looked down at the dash to see the engine running at 2,000 RPM, but there was no effect of any kind when I pressed the pedal. A few seconds later, the RPMs dropped to zero, all the idiot lights came on, and I lost all power steering and power brakes. It was all I could do to squeeze myself out of traffic without hitting anyone.
When I came to rest, the engine turned over but wouldn't start. All it would do is sputter a bit without catching. It honestly felt as the fuel pump had just stopped working. I tried banging on the tank, but nothing changed.
Anyway, I had it towed to a local shop long after they'd closed. The next day it started normally for them and it's been running just fine ever since. I've put about 40 miles on it since then, but I'm reluctant to drive it until I know what caused the problem and am able to make certain it wont leave me stranded again.
Any thoughts?

FPDM die? Check it. Mounted to the frame rail above the spare tire.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Heritage doesn't have a FPDM, does it?

Well I thought they all did, but could be wrong

I guess not. It's not listed on Rock Auto.

Maybe throttle body is fouled up, choked the engine out?
