During replacement of my driveshaft U-Joints with MOOG 232 U-Joints, I noted during disassembly that the U-Joint caps on the Coupling Flange (transmission end of driveshaft) fell out after removing the retaining rings. The new U-Joint cap MOOG 232 simply dropped in and is only held in place by the retaining ring. I also notice a slipping and clunk now when I accelerate after stopping. Berkeley Ford ordered first Ford P/N 9L3Z 4841B and the U-Joint holes were too large by about 1/8" dia. The 2nd and only other listed Coupling Flange P/N DL3Z 4841A was ordered and it TOO had holes too large by about 1/8" dia. OK, so, the 2004 Heritage is simply a 2003 F150 but the coupling flange for a 2003 is the same P/N. This isn't the first time I have experienced this dilemma with a Ford vehicle. Seems Ford randomly assembles the occasional vehicle with older part number parts and it is not documented in the BOM which is tied to the VIN to help in determining part effectivity. Never had this problem with GMC, Dodge, or Toyota. I'm about to go back to Dodge. This is truly BS. Shame on Ford!

Yes a 2004 Heritage is just a 2003 model.

2004 was an off year for the f150. Some are Heritage, the rest New Body. I think what happened here is they ordered the parts for the NB instead of the Heritage and took them a while to figure out. Easiest thing to do is say your truck is a 2003 or give them the VIN when ordering parts. This will assure you get the proper P/N's for your model. Best of luck
