Default 2004 f150 fx4 problem

Hello all,
Ok the problem is that I get up to around 35 mph and then i just rev out (like it's in neutral), but that's with the overdrive is on. I turn the over drive off and I can run through the gears, but you still have to baby it whenever you try to "get on" the throttle it shifts really rough. I have had this problem for a while and have Ben told multiple things. I'm new to f150 forum. Any input or information will be appreciated.
Thanks
Myles

Mine was doing same thing. When it went to shift into 3rd just acted like it was in neutral. It was the main drive hub. 1300 for tranny rebuild. Good luck. Hope I helped

yeah figured it wouldnt be cheap. and after i got the problem fixed i was looking into performance mods (programmer, intake, exhaust...etc.), should i just go ahead and beef up the tranny or will it be able to handle the extra power?
