2004 5.4 Interchangeability
I hope that I have found the right place to ask this question.
I have a 2004 2 wheel drive 5.4L that I need to sell. I believe its a 3v not a 2v? Could someone tell me what trucks SUV's this will directly swap into? Besides the obvious 2004's. I really need to unload this as the economy has really hit us hard.
TIA
Bryan

Write down the engine number and call your local Ford parts department. They should be able to confirm what year that engine will swap into. The problem I see using a 3V in anything earlier than the 2004 to 2008's would be the PCM; you'd want the PCM (powertrain control module) as well that matches the engine control functions (I.E. fuel delivery, ignition advance/retard, etc). And that would also have to be compatible with older vehicles/models, as the PCM controls other functions as well, other than just the engine vitals.
I'd figure out what it came out of, and sell it as a replacement for that model and year(s).

swapping the 5.4 into a mustang is more work than its worth for the power gains.
money and time is spent better on either trickflow heads + supporting bolt ons or a blower. fwiw.

Thanks for all your help. Where exactly do I find the engine # on this? Sticker on the valve cover? I might have a guy that might want it that has a 2006 Superduty HD with the same 5.4L Trying to find out if it would swap into his rig. Are most of the dealers willing to give you the time of day to answer that question? In my experience that hasn't been the case, but the squeeky wheel always get the grease! Thanks for all your help.
