Default 2004 5.4 Engie Problem

OK I bought a 2004 F150 FX4 two weeks ago from a local dealer. It has 123,000 miles and I bought it as is. I did take out the 2 year extended warranty on the drive train. Before buying this beautiful truck I had the dealer work on the leak in the intake system. Supposedly the leak was repaired and I made the purchase. I left for a fishing trip to Illinois from Ohio and all was well. On the return home the truck lost power and there was a knocking noise. I checked the oil and it was a quart low and all my gauges were perfect. The truck was towed 77 miles back home. It is now back at the dealer and I am getting the runaround as an adjustor is being called in to assess the damage. Nobody will tell me what went wrong!!! Am I screwed? Does the motor need replaced? Did I get a lemon? Please can anyone help me?

No one here is going to be able to tell you what is wrong with your truck by just telling us there is a knock and qt low on oil. I would suggest waiting to hear form your dealer as to what they think the problem is. Then report back here with your findings. If you have a warranty then you should be fine.

Default Update

Well after nine days the warranty adjuster finally showed and determined the engine threw a rod, so it is toast. If a used low mileage engine cannot be found in the next two days a new 5.4 Triton is to be installed. Anyone ever go through this? The salesman was fired one day after my truck was towed in. There is so much more to this story!!! An il change, new head gasket and a compression check done on the motor before I bought it. I'm going to pay my second payment and only drove the truck for one week!!! It's been in the shop the whole time.

i hope your not going through your warranty for this the dealer (in MA anyway) has a lemon law obligation. not only that it was a fraudulent sale and you can sue the dealer. the Statute in MA is 93A and i am sure other states have similar statutes. the statute allows for you to collect treble damages (TRIPLE DAMAGES) over the amount the dealer has called you. go for it. i believe the precedent case is Slaney v Westwood motors.

same thing basically happend. the dealer knowingly half assed fixed a car sold it as is which was known to them as junk and told Slaney that the repair he picked out was fixed.

I went through this earlier this year. I bought the 08 SuperCrew FX4 on 11/7/10. Took it back the next day because the engine would knock when it was on an incline. The dealership replaced the engine. I got my truck back in the end of January. So trust me I know how it is to buy a new vehicle and have it at the dealer for months. I got the whole run around about the Warranty Rep coming out. But later I found out the warranty wouldn't cover it because they couldn't make a claim within the first 30 days after purchase. So, the delearship had to eat the cost of it. I have heard horror stories about this dealership since and I will never purchase anything from them again or take my truck in for service. Don't go to Rusty Eck Ford in Omaha, NE!!!! They are a bunch of crooks and will try to screw you anyway they can!! They are the stereotypical used car salesmen!
