Default 2 Electrical issues - related?

Just purchased 2007 F-150 Lariat Supercrew.

Interior lighting does not come on when driver door is opened - all other doors OK.

Something is causing the battery to drain to the point it won´t start after it sits for several days - battery is only 1 year old.

Possibly related or not? I read something somewhere about the lighting problem possibly being a bad switch - where is the switch?

The one issue seems to be the door switch. I changed it before, it's a PITA.

You need to take off the interior door panel, and remove the lock assembly from the door. You then change out the switch from the lock assembly and reinstall. The lock assembly has multiple rods on it for the door handle, lock plunger, etc.

PITA - pain in the **** I assume ...

That was my first thought as well. I did view a couple Youtube videos about removing the panel - doesn't seem too difficult but I'm not going to attempt it until we have a warm day here in Denver because the truck doesn't fit in my garage, it's been really cold here lately, and I don't want the plastic parts, clips to be more prone to cracking being so cold.

So did you find the harder part to be replacing the switch in the removed lock assembly or was that fairly easy? - haven't found any videos about that.

TIA

Yes it looks like that, I don't have the part numners in front of me of course.

Just remember there are 2 part numbers, one for the right door, and one for the left. Make sure you get the right one.

And once you get access to the door latch assembly, removing/replacing that switch is very easy. It may have been a connector or 1 or 2 screws, I can't remember. Whatever it was it was easy to replace in the door latch.
