Question Which 12Volt outlet is linked to the ACC?

OK, I searched and couldn't find a definite answer. I was wondering which of the three 12Volt plug-in outlets in my 04 SuperCrew is linked to the ignition switch acc. position(1) so it goes out as I turn the key to position (0) and take the key out?

So far both of the front plugs stay live when I lock the truck and take my key out.

Unless, they both run on accessory residual power and go out with the interior lights?

One of them should go off when you turn off the truck AND open the door.

EDIT - actually I think I may be wrong.. that's how the radio works, but I haven't tested the acc plugs.

I have my GPS in one, and my portable XM in the other, and I have to power them down or they will stay on until I return

Hmmm, that's what I was afraid of. I have to power everything down also or ....... DEAD BATTERY ............ the next morning.

Is there anything that can be done to have at least one that goes out when you take the key out?

Install a relay. Switch the relay with the switched power lead to the radio. Make sure you get a relay that is 12V and is rated for the current draw of the 12V accessory port. I think it's 20 amps, but not sure, whatever the fuse is rated. You can probably get the right one at any auto parts store. The relay will need to be (NO) type, (normally open) so it is off unless getting voltage from the switched power lead to the radio. If you have questions then PM me and I'll try to help.
I'm thinking you can get access to everything by removing the trim around the radio/climate control area (clips) and removing the radio (4 screws).
You can get some tap splices at the auto store as well and avoid any soldering, just make sure you use the right size splices for the size wire you are working with.

If it is just a GPS or a radar detector then just tap into the Red wire (at least on my Pioneer HU). That wire only has power when the ignition is turned on.

Man, I guess I gotta do something! Today while unplugging the radar detector the whole guts came out of the outlet with it... with repeated use I guess it loosened up..
