Default 08 Lariat sub not playing

Hey all...

I'm new here and just got in a 08 Lariat at my pre-owned lot. This is one nice truck and I'm going to keep it for myself. One issue I need help with is the sub. This truck is equipped with the audiophile system. I do not hear or feel the sub working.

So, I've read a ton of threads; however, not one that covers the issue of the sub not working. Any suggestions?

There should be an inline fuse close to the battery. That could be the issue. Other than that... I'm not sure if the factory radio would allow you to turn the sub off in the settings but that is another place to check. After that it's a wire chase to make sure there's no shorts and that everything is getting power. I'd start with checking the settings and the fuse.

I checked the fuse for mine (under the dash on the passenger side, against the side wall) and that fuse was missing. I put one in and it popped instantly. I pulled the amp, opened it, and found a capacitor was cracked open and black. So amp on mine is bad.

Thanks for the reply... Ok, so where is the inline fuse for the sub or does the fuse protect other things as well. I checked the fuse panel, but, it looks ok. I plan on changing anyway.

Also, I don't see a control for the amp on the head unit. My goal is to change out the head unit with Bluetooth and nav, so, I'm trying to validate the speakers working before I start the change out. I don't want to be chasing a rabbit after the fact.

Did you check the owner's manual? Mine discusses the audio controls...It shows how to change the fade and balance. If there is a control for sub perhaps someone turned it off or way down.
I bet you will love your truck. I changed my plugs last fall and it was not so bad a job. I broke two and extracted them with the Lisle tools and the engine runs like a scalded dog.
Welcome to the Forum. You can learn a lot from the Forum site. And Ford must be doing something right, having led sales for 36 years. I love my 08 SuperCrew 4x4 with 5.4.

Ok, I figured it out. The resistor, on the board, is fried. I saw another post with the same issue; however, I can't find it anymore. Does anybody know the value of the resistor blown in this picture?

Look more like a diode than a resistor.
