So a mig and it doesn't damage the block? I don't have one, but maybe I can borrow one from a buddy of mine. I saw a youtube video with some sort of like plate but thought it was a gimmick. So weld down into the hole and then the nut onto the build-up. Alrighty then. I'll keep you posted. Thank you

That's how I would do it, but if you have room to get a drill and a good drill bit you could try an easy out I guess.

The head is aluminum so welding onto the steel stud won't really stick to it. Sometimes the very edge of the hole gets a little boogered but not enough to effect anything.

Thanks BillyG, well I had to get creative

Rear top

Now the top front - got really tough. I tried the plate you mentioned but just couldn't get the nut to weld - too tight of a space. I tried to use an extractor like I did the rear top, it was SUPER tough to get the pilot hole started, but I did it. HOWEVER, the stud would not come out, just didn't have enough leverage, and I put a lot of heat on it. So, I had to go old school, something I learned in RED HORSE (for those who know what that means). The spacing is so tight, and I suspect that is why they tell you to raise the engine.

I used a Flexible drill 90-degree extension

Dude thanks for the pointers

And thank you to the forum and comments. I figured if I didn't get this done, I would have never heard the end of it from my kids, you all probably heard them in the background. LOL

I'll post up once I get it started
