Im going to be buying either a 2008 with 59k or a 2010 with 77k and want to know if they had any problems. Does anyone know if the 08-010 5.4 3v had any problems like the older ones? Like cam phasers and sounding like a diesel? Ive seen posts talking about having the problems with 04,05,06 but havent heard anything about the newer ones. Thanks

 

Potential phaser/solenoid/timing problems exist for all 3V 5.4 motors. The only major difference is the spark plug update in 2008.

 

I have a 2010 and my truck is currently at the dealer for this problem. 77kms and 95% sure I'm getting a complete brand new engine. Fortunately I bought an extended warranty till 80kms. Regardless, it shouldn't be happening. Other than this the truck is solid.

 

I love the looks of the fords and everything else about them. Im guessing Chevy and Dodge have there own problems, so I hope I get lucky and not have any problems. Is it a one time fix thing or is it a reoccurring problem for the phaser/solenoid/timing problems?
