'06 XL radio/dash disassembly
I am trying to find documentation on removing my radio from my '06 F150 XL. I don't have a center console. Can someone point me to some information?
Thanks

removing steroe
The trim piece around the stereo should just pop out, sometimes you have to use a flat screwdriver or something to help it a little bit, pop the top part off first, unplug the wire that goes to that little light at the top of the dash that says "passenger air bag" then just pull it back. You won't have to unhook the cigarette lighter , this should be enough room to get the stereo out. Then there is just 4 I think 8mm nuts around the edge of the stereo to take out, after those are out the radio should pull right out! Unplug the wires from the back, abd the antenna plug and your done. I would get the wiring harness adapter to install a aftermarket one.

Danny. On the Front doors you just pop the grill off and take the speaker out. The rear door panels have to come off to get to them. If your truck is a 4dr I have the instructions from when I replaced my door handles and it shows how to remove them. It you need it pm me you email address and I'll send it to you. It's in a pdf forum and I don't know how to convert it so I can post it.

well, i bought a 2007 f150 xl work truck with the 4.6 (traded in a 2002 s-10 crew cab loaded) dont regreat the trade one bit, mainly because i like having a base to start with and add in the luxury myself, i currently installed a aftermarket alarm and remote start along iwth an indash dvd, the single cab does have rear opening doors, and from the looks i can fit 2 12 inches (sub woofers ) behind the seats.
