Default 06 XL Help

Hey, I recently purchased a used 06 XL F150. I'm looking to replace or remove this plastic bumper that came with the truck, is it possible, if so how? Another question, I'm wanting to blackout possibly my headlights and taillights however I'm not sure if there completely legal in Georgia where I live. (If it is, how do all these people get away with blacked out lights?) Thanks.

Hella makes a set of aftermarket headlamps that are legal. You could also buy a set of OEM Harley heads but they are more expensive. The OEM Harley tails are darker than the other stock tails.

There are other sources such as Recon that have quite a bit of products for trucks. Also, I believe someone on here can custom smoke the heads and tails. Just do a search for custom headlights and I'm sure you'll yield some results.

As far as your question with the bumper, it will probably all unbolt fairly easily.

If you do a search, some members have put their headlights in the oven and parted the lens from the body, and then painted the body. Not sure I would ever do that. I believe Bucko did the oven thing on his lights.
Many threads/posts on the ebay lights. Many reports of leaky seals on those lights. Good luck, I would do the Hella. What are you going to replace the bumper with? My '08 stx has the paint to match bumper cover.

Thanks for the advice. I was kind of confused on the bumper until I went and looked at it up close to find that it wasn't a bumper cover but a bumper itself. Is it possible to replace the plastic bumper for a afterstock metal bumper? Do you think you could show a picture of your truck with the painted plastic bumper?

That's odd... I thought all STX trims came with PTM bumpers. Has your truck been hit before?

Yep. The STX package included painted body color front and rear bumpers, fog lights, and a few other cosmetic goodies.

Anyone know where I can get a smooth and paint able XL upper bumper, or maybe a metal bumper that can replace it?

Edit: I checked out the plastic bumper, and it feels pretty smooth, not sleak but not sandpaper like.
