Default 06 F150 Timing Issue????

Hello all and thank you for having me. This is the first time posting so I hope I am doing it right. I am at my wits end. I have an 06 f150 5.4 just did complete timing job tensioners, chains, phasers, guides, vct solenoids, cam sensors, oil pump, water pump, seems to run great except after warmed it will start running rough cut off at a brake stop unless i rev engine it will go away. i have forscan and noticed that when it acts up the vctaddver and vctaddver2 goes to 0 until revved then starts working any ideas....reason for timing job was guide rails broke and pieces everywhere even broke the drivers side valve cover which i replaced..... I also unplugged both VCT solenoid and doesn't seem to happen. thanks for any help

Did you clean all the junk out of the oil pan and oil pump pickup screen?

I cleaned pan out but did not remove it. This is one of the issues I have thought about was the pickup screen. it would have made the new oil pump go in a lot easier had I removed the oil pan. thank you for that suggestion

Yeah. I'm not sure how you were able to clean out the pan without removing it, but I don't see any way to get the screen clean without dropping the pan and removing the pickup tube.
Some times it's probably easier to just replace the pickup tube, screen assembly rather than try to clean it.
Either way I think you need to start with dropping the pan and then you can get the pan clean and see if the screen is able to be cleaned. If not then replace it. Only way to ensure good oil pressure

Funny you should say that. All the videos and forums I read/watched never mentioned cleaning pan or screen... So, when I got it completely tore down i took a 18 inch piece of garden hose and attached to a wet dry vac hose and vacuum.....tried to clean the pan best I could. I will be dropping pan and replacing the pickup/screen in the next couple days. Hopefully this will fix the issue......

Yes the clean the oil pu and pan are a must do . But I wonder about your parts ,did you use OEM phasers. No after market will do, see ford tech malukoco .
If the vct oil flow can't get the phasers to respond -reset /advance then they are worthless . You must have a very clean oil system all the time , fords phasors have been improved but even those wear out after 100k or so . Should be more robust but other brands have similar problems newer engines have 4 phasers . I do an engine flush every other oil change , never use extended oil changes or get too low .Combustion carbon is your enemy ,dump that oil before 5k or three months . Or if you do short trips in cold country you must get the engine up to temperature on a good trip and dump oil sooner with flush , that condensation water has to be removed . It will turn your engine oil into chocolate cake frosting .
Lubrication pressure is a must , you changed oil pump from marginal oem pump, that helps . But dirt and clogs in small passages /filters in vcts reek havoc . Looking at the physical condition of phasers helps with valve covers off . The center tang of the three fingers should be at L , the front plate should be parallel to body .
Plus if you have poor lube on cam and galling it can prevent phaser from doing its job .I wish they had true bearings on cams .
I don't see a definition for your forscan vctaddver anywhere. We mainly use torque pro .

I forgot to say that sometimes that fifth center finger of the three gets bent back too far even on new ones . You can move it forward a little just so it doesn't hit .
