Default 06 f-150 fuel level sensor code

My 2006 F-150 recently broke down on me and wasnt getting any fuel so of course i thought it was the fuel pump. So i replaced that and it still wouldnt start so after doing some checking i saw people talking about replacing the fuel pump driver module under the spare tire. I did that and my truck started however the gas gauge is acting really weird, like showing 1/4 tank when i know there is way more in it than that. Also if u turn the key on and off, each time it seems to have a different reading and the engine light came on. Checking the code it says Fuel Level Sensor A is the problem, not sure what now i should b looking for as it has new fuel pump and fpdm. Truck runs fine its just that i have no idea how much gas i have and having to stare at the engine light all the time. Any ideas would b greatly appreciated.

Did you replace just the pump, or the pump and sender assembly? Was the pump clocked/oriented correctly when it was reinstalled?

Sounds like a defective unit. Might try to clean all the contacts and connections first to be sure.

Are the pump/sender unit combos different based on tank size? Wrong PN in tank? Just a WAG.

I just assumed that I had a 26 gallon tank but after doing some research online I saw someone say that it was standard on an 06 F150 Supercrew with a 6.5' bed to have a 36 gallon tank. Called Ford dealership service dept and had them look up my vin # to check and they told me that was about the only thing that Ford wouldn't tell u after looking it up was the gas tank size. DUMB!! Even asked him if he had some size specs on the 2 different tanks so I could just measure mine and that would let me know but of course Ford doesn't give him that information either. Can anyone tell me how to find that out without the obvious of filling the tank up, my problem is the gas gauge won't read right so unless I run it out of gas and than get towed to a gas station and than fill it up to find out that way, I'm screwed and I really don't want to resort to that. Any info would be appreciated
