Default 05 f150 rear axel movement inside axel tube

You lift the rear wheel and pull wheel in and out.. not up and down there's moving and I hear a noise when turning a corner and a dip in road is most noticeable. How much is that axel supposed to slide in and out of axel tube do the clips wear out .... the differencial is ok no noise from that and axel bearing is ok as well no up and down movement

Yeh its a scary thought. I know C clip axles have a little play but I have no idea how much.

I was brought up on here before tho.

Some in and out movement is normal, I've never seen a c-clip fail or wear out, the bearings carry all the weight.

I kept hearing a noise like that when going around turns. Kept thinking there was something in the bed sliding.

Might have to jack er up this weekend and see if that's what is going on.

I'm having the same issue that you are saying. I pulled my rear tires off and rotors to see what is moving. I can see the axel moves in and out very very little so I figured it might be my brake set up. So I replaced the rotors, pats and caliper hardware but I still have a noise. It sounds as if my lug nuts are not tight and the t is slapping against the rotor. I'm at a loss. I replaced the diff lol a few months ago. Everything looks good in there. Any help?
