04 stalling issues: running out of ideas!
Hey all, seeking advice on an old farm truck we have that is having stalling and idle issues. Truck is a 04 5.4 3V with 180k kms. We bought it at an auction a while back to use on the farm, but’s it’s been having some issues listed below. Truck has a edge programmer and exhaust that was on it when we got it (Edge tuner is set to stock, not tuned)
upon starting it idles at 900-1000 rpms, and if you rev it up the revs stick for a moment before coming down. When warmed up it can stall out at random times. Also seems to be down on power compared to our other 5.4. The truck is throwing 2 engine codes P2195 and P2197. Stalls out only when warmed up, and the revs stick for a moment whenever you try to rev it up at any temp. Sometimes runs at 500rpms sometimes 1000rpms. While travelling down the road it drives perfectly normal.
things I have tried so far include new fuel filter, remove and clean throttle body, cleaned MAF, checked lines for leaks. I’m not sure what else to look at. It’s not worth sending to a mechanic as it was only $2000, and still functions for what we need except the stalling. I’m far from a mechanic but figured If there is something I can do myself that fixes it then why not.
also is it bad to keep driving it?

Can’t comment on the codes. I generally don’t use them.
For your mileage and being in Canada the first thing I’d replace is the fuel pump driver module. It can wreak all sorts of havoc including stalking issues. I’d replace it whether you think it needs it or not. My friend who ran a repair shop would keep a bucket of these things and replace it for every F150 that came in for any engine issue, more often than not he never got a call back.

I usually troubleshoot old school ways, not to say I don't look at codes but I don't immediately run to the scanner if a light comes on, and this is why I generally have no clue what codes refer to without having to look them up every time. I'm of the "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" camp, so CELs are few and far between; one of my cars has nearly 160k on it and has never once thrown a CEL.
