I am trying to figure out if my Brake Interlock switch is bad. My cruise quit and I have been following other posts to try to figure out the cause. I took the Interlock off of the shift assembly and found that when I turn the key on, the selenoid goes down allowing me to shift out of park without pressing on the brake, Which makes the cruise think that the brake is on? Is it supposed to do this? Is my problem up the line in a connector somewhere? I have checked out the two switches on the brake pedal and they both work like they are supposed to. I cannot find a schematic anywhere that will show me which wires do what going into the Interlock switch. (Wife has to pay the library fines first.)
Has anybody had this samy problem? What did you find?

 

Hey!Ive got 04 fx4 and same prob,my nephew is mech at local ford dealership and said its the shift actuator.its app by shifter mine is auto on floor.Ive been checking junk yards 4 it,dealer cost about 140.00.

 

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a Ford F150 2005 FX4. Ive recently lost the cruise control and the cruise light doesn't come on the dash. Ive also found i can put it into drive without having my foot on the break. Ive checked the fuses and these appear to be ok.

Any ideas what could be wrong?? Im in the UK so cant be buying lots of parts from abroad so need to find out what the problem is before I start buying in parts.

When the interlock on my 04 went out, it was stuck in park and had to be dragged out of a parking lot. However, the first indication that it was going out, was the cruise control not engaging.
