'04 F150 throttle lag
Hello everyone, just joined.
I have an 04 STX that I bought new and have always hated the delay going to wide open throttle. After dealing with mutiple trips to the dealer and lurking here in you threads for a while I noticed that everyone was saying to go with Superchips. So as of yesterday, the Superchips 1815 is in and the Airaid intake is on. The truck really woke up, but the throttle lag is still there. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else done this? Does anyone have a fix? I don't want to spend my days smoking my tires, but I'd like to have the option.

Well, I guess that is an option, but I was kinda hoping to work with what I've already got as dumping $500 to keep trying different tuners gets expensive

I'm am up at fontana speedway but when I get home ill search for the link. That will be a few days however. In the mean time, search throttle lag fix for 05+ mustangs. You have a copper plate where you run a set of brushes over. The sensors have dead play in them, and by modifying the brushes you close the dead space and lessen the lag for the electonic signal to be sensed. There is little we can do besides modifications and tuning, I hate the drive by wire ford developed as do many other people like yourself.

Thanks, I looked it up and had high hopes. The throttle on the F150 doesn't have screws, the factory breaks the heads off flush. And the part is a lot longer. So I don't know if it's the same "guts" as the mustang's but I'll get it open at work (that's where I keep the good tools).
Hopefully it'll be the same fix.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice, but I've had the pcm reflashed 4 times. They've also replace the throttle body and the gas pedal, then tried another reflash, then said it was normal.

The throttle lag is consistent with Several Ford's and other makes that use the same Ford drive-by wire system. When you plug in a data logger you will see a Wide Open Throttle that the throttle is opening 82-85%.Another reason why aftermarket tuning has a great impact on throttle response when it is addressed.
Here is another product that also addresses throttle lag
