Default 04 5.4 hesitation

I was driving home today and my truck started hesitating really badly. From about 2-3k rpms I can floor it and the engine gets louder but doesn't rev up at all hardly. Sometimes it clears up around 3500 rpms and takes off and then sometimes it just hesitates all the way to 4500-5k rpms and then shifts really harshly. I just replaced the plugs and coils and its not throwing any codes. I also just cleaned the throttle body and MAF. I have the Gotts mod and k&n drop in filter. My truck ticks pretty badly, so could I have an injector stuck open or maybe a clogged cat? It also almost feels like the transmission is slipping sometimes from 2-3k rpms and then it grabs really hard and shifts badly. I had it replaced under 10k miles ago so it's still under warranty. It's been doing this off and on for a few weeks but today was the worst.

Yeah the only thing that makes me think it isn't is that it's really inconsistent but I think that's what I'm going to have checked first. Maybe an excuse for some high flow cats and true duals

I'm getting an edge this week so I'll see if using a canned tune fixes it. Maybe my computer just needs a reflash

And I had a bad misfire for a few days right before I changed my plugs and coils so that could have done it

Couple of things VCTs and or phasers gone bad, or there is a fuel control module mounted above the spare tire and it corrodes badly and will cause al stort of driving issues. Do you have a check engine light on?

I've replaced the FPDM and put the spacers so it sits away from the frame last month. No check engine lights

Took it to one of my friends who is a tech at the Ford stealership and let him drive it today. He said he's almost positive its a clogged cat, especially with the misfire issue I had. So if anyone else is having a similar issue its possible its the cats. I'll be ordering some High flows next week and I'll post back again to let everyone know if it for sure fixed it or not.

Just wondering, what advantages do the high flow cats give you? I have to think a small hp gain, maybe mpgs? Any sound difference?
