Is it worth is to wait for a 5.0 vs buying a 4.6?
Searching for a truck online with a 15000 CAD budget, most trucks that have decent mileage in that range are the 4.6L from 2009-2010. Is it worth it to wait until some 2011 or newer f150s come on with the ecoboost and 5.0? The goal setup would be scab 6.5 ft, trim doesn't matter!

How's she goin' eh?
I paid $35k with a $8k trade for the truck in my sig. I'm in Windsor. I have a feeling you are not going to find a 5.0L for that amount. If you do, it's gonna be a bare bones truck and might have a v6 na to boot or its gonna be in the years you mentioned. The 4.6 3v is a great motor but I would look for a 5.4 if I was looking at a crew cab.
A couple years ago (August 2014) I was looking at something leftover from 2014 before the pop cans came out. XTR crews in both bed sizes were $32-35k. My dealer couldn't find what I wanted. These trucks hold onto their value unfortunately. I was extremely close to just settling that August, I'm glad I didn't. The following year I stumbled onto my truck and 2 other fx4's, all between $28-35k. Unfortunately my original sales guy was right, my truck was 3 years old, had 28k kms and I felt I got a great deal.
I'm not trying to discourage you from getting what you want, I would wait a year and see.
I also came close to buying an f250 with a crew and a 6.2. They are priced nicely in Toronto and they are not all fleet white. Some look like they are retired armed forces trucks. Blue, grey, white, silver. However you're also looking at $25-29k and the mileage wasn't bad either. I dunno if that's what you want, I'm just giving my experience.

Nope. Not worth the wait at all unless you want lots of power, great gas-mileage, and superb reliability. ;-)

I hear ya. Good from far, far from good describes kijiji.
If I didn't stumble onto my current I probably would have kept my ranger until I absolutely needed to upgrade. That would have been a year and a half later. I'm not sold on the pop cans yet but I feel I would have traded into one or I would have eventually settled for a less packaged truck. I didn't want to sell my ranger privately if I went SD. That and the SD was way more truck than I needed. Hell at times this one is as I'm the only one driving it and it's to and from work.
Good luck in your search. Our local dealers down here are ken knapp in Essex, I bought my ranger from them new. My sales guy was Ron vanmackleberg. Performance Ford here in Windsor, my sales girl was Sara. She deals mostly with new but sold me mine. Both were good to deal with at their respective times. I went with Sara for my fifty cus Ron wasn't able to find what I wanted. His words: If he pulled a truck from somewhere else he wouldn't have been able to reduce the price because he wouldn't have gotten it reduced from the second dealer. It makes sense. I also recommend both sales people.
The other dealers in Essex county I don't know anything about.

I'd wait if I were you if you really want a V8, the 5.0 is the way to go. If you don't want to wait, I'd take a look at 3.7 V6 trucks if you're able to live with a 4.6. The V6 makes similar (or more) power yet is much more efficient. Our fleet trucks are now ordered with it vs. the 5.0 since they make plenty of power and are really reliable.

Another point to consider is the resale of the 4.6, as the price of 5.0's and 3.5's come down over the next few years, it will render the 4.6's and 5.4's worthless....
