Default wire for ambient lighting on 2011

What wire do I tap for ambient lighting? I want the light only to come on with the parking/headlights. I tried fuse 21 for parking lamps. That was constant power. I tried fuse 10 for auxiliary power but that was constant power as well. Pulled the headlight switch but that only goes to ground and it says not to splice there.

I also tried the solid brown wire in the drivers floor board like mentioned in another thread but that didn't work either.

A little help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Parking lights wire is violet with white stripe. You can tap into it right behind the headlight switch.

Hmm, when I tested all the wires behind the light switch last night I didn't get any power from any of them, maybe I had a bad ground.

I will try this, thanks!

It might only have power if the switch is turned on, I'm not sure?? That is where I tapped into for my boost gauge light and it works when the parking lights are on.

That wire worked (though it was violet and very light grey )

So now, whenever the parking lights are on so is my ambient. I also wired a switch in for when I don't want them on. I am wanting to find a controller though for brightness, or I might just use some resistors but I would like the customization of a controller.

Any suggestions on controlling the brightness?

To this same note I have a question. I have a autopage alarm. It already makes the Flashers flash on lock and unlock but I want it to turn the dome lights on to. I know what wire does the lights but should I wire straight to it or find the relay? Any help is appreciated
