No noise appeared this morning, but the temperature wasn't very low (48*). I'm happy with the outcome, but further testing needs to be done.

Temp out here was 70F yesterday, broke all sorts of records. The noise was there at 70, jut barely noticeable. it looks like the colder it gets the louder it is.

Hopefully it will get cold enough, so that I can take it to the dealer for duplication and fix.

Thank you everyone that has posted their fix, hopefully I will have mine to add here real soon.

I have this same problem on my '13 Lariat. Comes in the winter, leaves in the spring. Took it into the dealer last winter and they couldnt replicate it. They had me come in to try and make it make the noise. I get in the truck and the **** is turned to 4HI. grrrr I told them specifically that the issue was in 2HI. They "noted" my concerns in case it causes issues down the road. Noise came back as the weather got colder and damp here this winter. Problem is that my dealership books out two weeks in advance for even an oil change so getting in to them is a royal pain. The good news is that im moving to southern California next week. Hopefully ill never hear the noise again, but if i do, my dealer provided a lifetime warranty on the truck free of charge. If the front end does decide to blow up even 5 years down the road, they can pay for it.

I havent heard the noise in 2WD while turning like I had before the IWE solenoids were replaced. I have driven in all kinds of conditions, 2H, 4A, 4H, from -20C to + 5C, so I guess it's fixed.

I do find the 4WD louder than before though, especially when accelerating, but the tech I rode with last month said his '12 is just as noisy, so what do I know?...

Well good news. My truck is in for a oil change and I had the tech go for a spin with me. Of course it didn't make the noise. He said he would put it on the rack and see if he could reproduce the issue. Sure as hell it did. So they are replacing both iwes under warranty. Hopefully I'll be out of here in a hr.

Awesome, now, it will only get cold again so that I can have my dealer reproduce it.

ah, my truck is in for service today too... awww, service buddies

I mentioned the loud "groan" in 4A / 4H, only when the front wheels are actually engaged (as per the little screen). it's been 3 hrs, no call yet, we'll see...

I'm finally home. 4 hrs at the shop. Hopefully it cures the issue!
