guy at work has this sun shield fitted for his '14 Mustang.... it fits on the OUTSIDE, and it slips over the side mirrors.
Looks strange as @&$*, but he said he keeps the heat off the windshield totally (well, I guess it would being on the outside).

I think a regular reflective one (that folds up), does make the glass tremendously hotter than without one. however, it keeps the dash cooler.....

the other day, 95 outside, when I took my sun shield down, I could literally not touch the windshield it was so hot.

The sunshield does reflect the heat, but it seems reflect it back to the glass.

any chance this over time could harm the glass, make it weaker, or prone to cracks?

I'm shopping for one also but unlike most, my truck sits outside only when travelling with trailer and away from both doing stuff. As such, not as much priority for maximum sun/UV protection. Compact storage when not in use is a consideration for me, thus folding vs roll-up style seems most practical style for me. Agreed on buying Amazon Prime, however net price from AA with 10% promo applied is equiv to Amazon with tax factored. AA includes "free" $10 side window protector too.

I have that one, and I love how it looks, but it doesn't do a damned thing in Texas heat.

I bought the one of the Custom Auto Shades from Intro-Tech (we sell them at work) and it made a HUGE difference. I've now got one in my F150, in my Mustang II, and my dad has put one in his Hyundai. No more getting blasted by that "opening an oven door" feel when getting in my truck after it's sat in the sun all day. It fits perfect, it's thicker, reflects better, and is very well made compared to all of the universal ones I've looked at or had.

this works perfect and does it's job. when I'm done with it, fold it and slide it in the back of the passenger seat slot.

I like the cover craft as well, have them on both Mustang and truck from autoanything.

I have the same thing, put mine in one of the rear door pockets when not in use. Only problem is I always forget the damn thing when I get to work @5 am. I usually leave my windows cracked under the vent visors to expel heat when I remote start 5 mins before I leave, love the RS.
