Windows just tinted and...
Just had my D/P windows tinted with 3M Crystalline 50% and am kind of disappointed in how "shiny" they look compared to the back windows at 20%. Is this "shinyness" due to the tint being fresh or is it due to the 50% tint? Or is it due to the Crystalline film? Would standard 3M tint at 50% be a better way to go for looks? I liked the Crystalline for its heat blocking as it was noticeably different when compared to others.

It's because of the crystalline film. Suntek Carbon is what everyone in my area uses and I had it on my truck and it matched perfectly.

Here are some pics of the tint. After taking this pics, I now hate how it looks unless someone chimes in and says it's due to something else besides the crystalline film itself. Luckily for me the tint guy messed up and left 1 piece of lint in the driver window and has to come take it off. Now I'll ask for the regular 3M tint which hopeful will have a more "flat" black shade to it instead of this "shiny"/"metallic" look. Ickkk.

Yea that is very light. Here's 5 on back and 18 on front.

So if I were to switch to 3M regular tint @50%, would it basically still look how it is now with the "metallic shine"? Or would it be a more "flat" black? OR would it not matter at all because of how light the tint is at (50%...MN law)? I get that it won't be dark because it's a 50%/20% comparison but I don't like the shine the new tint has

you might loose some of the shine and get more of a matte finish but it but it won't really be black. I am not too familiar with that tint brand and 50% tint. Mine is 35%/20% and is pretty close (sorry for the crappy pic). It is so close I think the guy put 20% in the front but I can see out at night so I don't care.

At least your not in the same boat as me which I'm not sure who's boats worse yours or mine... But my back windows are factory brown... Fronts are freaking gray... Going to tint the rears with gray later and hopefully won't be able to tell

I had the same tint on my truck when i bought it. The dealership added the tint and spray in bed linear before i bought it. It was to light for me. So me and a buddy put 35% on top of it. It looks alot better now. It still has that blue shiney look but just darker now. Its illegal where i live but with it being shinier then the back it looks lighter then the back. I havent been pulled over yet knock on wood lol

I'll have them switch the film out tomorrow when they peel off the driver side because of lint. Hopefully it turns out more of a flat/matte black compared to a shiny blue/metallic and I'll save around $40 to use on something else!
