JohnT,

Has your area been really windy lately? Over the weekend (I live in DFW), I drove from Mansfield out past Waxahachie, TX (2-lane roads, flat everywhere) and I thought I was getting wind noise from my driver side door (like a whistling sound). On the way back I heard the same thing from the passenger door, so I chalked it up to it just being really windy that day.

Tried listening for it again yesterday after I saw your post and didn't hear anything. The wind has died down the last few days.

Best thing will be to take it in, explain what you are hearing, and where you think the noise is coming from. Let everyone know what the dealer says and what the fix is.

Hey fellow Edmontonian.... mine is doing the same. I am eliminating possibilities - I was already on my 2nd windshield - wondered if the seal on it was not set properly, so on Friday - because of more stone chips and a few cracks on a 3 month old windshield - I took it in for replacement #3. I had them be extra attentive installing it that there was a good seal, and I let it sit for the weekend without driving it. If mine still whistles then off comes the bug deflector. Even though it is a Ford add-on, it likely was not designed in a wind tunnel with "acoustics" in mind. You have any add-ons like a bug-deflector or screen front that may set up a makeshift whistle?

I have the Ford brand bug deflector on my 09 FX4 and I get wind noise off it but I just turn the radio up a bit and it's gone. No, I don't like to hear it when not listening to the radio and was thinking of taking it off but I haven't gotten to that point yet.....I'd like to know if there are any bug deflectors out there that don't make any wind noise for the new body style!!!

Only add on is a dealer installed bug deflector and tonne cover, I don't believe that's causing the whistle as it sounds more to the rear of the cab but these sounds are deceiving. I have a due service coming up and will see what the dealer makes of it, likely will not get much out of them?
My friend has an Escalade that whisles after 110 km from the front fender vents, he tapes them over with duct tape before any trips, hell of a thing for a high end vehicle. Maybe there is something behind or around the grill causing our whisle?

My dealer installed Ford logo deflector seems to be ok for wind noise.

Thats the defector I am talking about. I picked it up at my dealership and installed it myself and it does whistle.

What speeds are we talking when your whistle starts up? Mine starts at 70 km but it does not sound like it's coming from the deflector but then again sounds travel and are hard to locate.

You were out in my neck of the woods.
