I got a good 4x4 story, was coming home from working out of town on my old 98' f150 went around a corner and bam, bam , bam *** end jumping all kinds of grinding and cracking, next thing I know all I have is grinding noise from the rearend and truck wont go, figured the rear end locked up and snapped something in there, popped it in to 4x4 and drove home another 30 miles, you just never know when you will need it, better to have it then not, especially on a truck.

Sounds like you don't need 4x4.

I would never drive anything but a 4x4 or AWD, but I drive on mountain roads and off road a lot. And I do a lot of driving in bad weather. If you are just driving around town, and to the lake on a main road, you can get by without it. If you have been getting by without it so far and your driving habits won't be changing at all, then I don't see any reason why you would NEED it all of a sudden. Just understand that your big truck is going to handle like a car or worse in bad weather. Drive slowly and carefully and put a good set of snow tires on for winter.

Plenty of people around here drive 2wd cars, vans, etc. You can get around if you are smart and know the limitations of your vehicle.
