Why 5.4 WHY?!
My 09 has long tube headers with 3 inch y pipe and 3 inch single exhaust. (Soon to be duals) 5 star tune and intake. Makes very good power. Im on 35s and 3.55 gears. I put truck lengths on stock 5.0s. 09 was the heaviest year and I have the absolute heaviest truck you could spec minus a 6.5 ft bed which is about 100 lbs more. When they have intake tune exhaust and bigger tires we are dead even. So I dunno what all y'all are talkin about. One 5.0 beat me that was intake tune boss 302 manifold and on e85. He drug me by about 2 trucks. But it was an extended cab xlt and a lot lighter.

Those Nittos are pretty heavy tires, and especially being a little larger than stock I can see that causing a decrease in mileage, maybe not as extreme as you are seeing, but I would say that accounts for some of it.

Thats just what i mean, and their apples to oranges i know but the power output of the 5.4 is terrible considering its size, couple that with head issues and phaser issues and everything else, i just think they are dogs, my professional opinion. im not saying there is one great motor either.
i also mentioned that 5.0s with intake tune exhaust and bigger tires are dead even with me. Plus the 5.0 is a lighter motor = lighter truck. Theoretically they should be putting bus lengths on me but they don't.
