Default When rolling to an intersection, will not downshift from 3rd unless hard throttle

This might be a "that's normal" posts but I'm hoping it's not.

My 2012 5.0 seems to not downshift from 3rd to 2nd or 1st while going around 10-20 mph at an intersection unless I give it hard throttle.

I've read that by design these trucks downshift from 3rd to 1st when stopping, but I'm a little uneasy when I need to take a left turn in front of oncoming traffic, only to have the truck act like there isn't any power unless I put the pedal down halfway.

It seems like the torque converter isn't letting go of 3rd unless the truck is completely stopped, then it shifts normally until I'm in a parking lot or another intersection and it stays in 3rd gear.

Is this by design or is there a possible issue?

Go look at the thread I just posted in this section and watch the video. Seem similar? Happened to see this post right after I posted mine. What are the odds we're both having the same problem and post about it on the same day lol. Will not downshift from third unless I press hard on the throttle, today I thought "this is scary, if this happens when turning into oncoming traffic, I won't be able to get out of the way quick". It goes to first when stopped, but when moving and in third gear, it will not downshift. My truck also thought a pretty steep hill should be done in 3rd instead of 1st too.

I kind of remember my truck doing this on the stock tune and that was one of the reasons I tuned my truck, but it's doing it now on my tuned truck (and has been tuned for over 10k miles) so I think something might be off about it. Just started this past week or so, wasn't always like that. 2013 5.0

I must've not searched hard enough but yes, that's similar to what mine is doing.

I went to the dealership today and told them what was happening and they said to bring it in, but I wanted to reach out to the forum first beforehand.

The last thing I want to happen is have my wife drive my truck and pull out in front of someone only to not have the truck shift quick enough to get out of the way.
