I changed mine at 67K after I experienced the limp mode feature and initially thought the tranny went. I searched on here and someone said to check the spark plugs. I had two cylinders where the porcelain had cracks in them, changes all the plugs, and have had zero issues. I certainly will change them again after 50k to avoid that mess again.

Sounds like a reason to fashion the wheel well covers with a 5.0 more than anything. I'm guessing that saga was before you put covers in?

Changed mine right at a 100k. That is when one of my plugs took a crap, causing delayed startup and missing on a cylinder.

Yes it was, ridicules that Ford doesn't offer Front ones at all & sells the Rear ones separately (CHEAP )
Luckily a Forum Member provided a Template, which is what I followed to manufacture my Front ones & I bought Rear ones.

I was about to post a similar question. My 'new to me' truck has 132K miles. Before winter sets in I'll get the plugs replaced. A further question, though: Is there *any* benefit to installing aftermarket coils, or putting on new OEM coils?

Thank you,

m

Changed my plugs vesterday. I changed them the first time at 80,000 miles, used the "CYFS12Y" plugs then, which I think are no longer used or made.
This time I put in SP-548, which is the plug that is now called for for the 5.0 in a '12. At 160,000 I figured it couldn't hurt.
The old plugs looked OK, I think:light grey insulator and electrode tip, with black sooty residue around the lip of the base.

It seems to run a little smoother, but that could be "confirmation bias"...who knows?

But, I just feel better knowing they are fresh and new.

I changed mine at 140k miles. My 2013 5.0 was running perfect but decided it was time. Very easy job and replaced with the exact same plugs (hard to find btw). I figured if they would last that long I needed to put the same plug back. All the plugs still looked very good. So good in fact I thought it was almost a waste of time. It did not run better after replacement. Had to live with various plug misses on hard acceleration. Seemed to be a few months before all that hard acceleration missing went away but it did. Runs perfect again. Now at 216k and i still run the perf/tow mpt tune. I don't think I could ask for it to run any better. Good luck.
