Question Wheels' spoke/caliper clearance

Hi guys,

I am looking at getting new/take offs/used tires and realizing that getting the wheels is pretty much the same price. My understanding is that as long as it is the same bolt pattern and bore hole they should be interchangeable. Or should they be?? Anyways, had a look at my rims and they are 17 x 7-1/2J ET44 6x135 so basically any F150 rim should work. ??

My concern is that the clearance between the rims and the caliper is about 3/8" - 1/2" at the front. Lots of clearance at rear with the drum for the parking shoes.

So, would I have enough clearance between the spokes and the calipers if I were to get OE alloy wheels? I can tell that some have straight spoke not concave if that makes sense. Anyways, any information would be appreciated.

Also, I looked it up online and searched the forum but did not find any useful information. Or else did not look it up properly, don't know.

P.S.: 2011 XL SuperCab F150 6-1/2 bed, 5.0L, 9.75" diff, 3.73 gear ratio, trak-lok and is a 6 bolt pattern if that matters.

Basically, would a 13/14/15th gen rim fit on a 12th gen? Would it clear the caliper or some won't?

13th and 14th gen wheels fit just fine. I've used both. 15th gen I don't have personal confirmation, but I am fairly sure the brakes are carryover from 14th to 15th gen so I see no reason why they wouldn't fit.

All F150 wheels from 2004 until now will fit. There are tpms differences and stud/lugnut thread differences, but the rims are all interchangeable.

Interesting I come across this thread now. I bought 2 sets of wheels in hopes I can use them as winter wheels. One from a 2010 and the steelies are NOS from 2007.
I stopped at Goodyear and found some tires I liked. It hasn't snowed yet so they still stocked. Talking to the tire guy about what I wanted to do and he said they might not work on my 2023 F150.
He said the calipers on the 2023 might not allow these rims to fit properly. Of course, my wife has my vehicle this week so I won't be able to see if he's right. We'll see...

I'm assuming they are 17x7-1/2 with a 44mm offset. If so, you should have the same clearance between the mounting flange and the inside edge of the wheel. Now, the interesting part: Do you figure based on observation that we have the same caliper clearance?? I think that's where the issue would be if any.

There are aftermarket brakes that don't fit in 17" rims, but pretty sure he's just being cautious if you have Ford brakes. There is some difference in Raptor rim sizes, but that's width.

So I got the wheels mounted and put on the vehicle. Look at those meats!
The wheels are still inside the wheel well so that's good. Well I think so anyway, I don't want wheels sticking outside the wheel wells throwing up rocks and **** onto my paint.
The caps that hide the lug nuts won't fit the wheel anymore but I think it looks OK.
I don't want it but I'm now ready for snow!
