Default Wheel Help!

I know the subject of backspacing and offsets have been beaten to death and I have been reading for hours. I guess I am an idiot so maybe someone on here can help me out.

I have an 09 XL 4x4 Supercrew with the basic 17x7 steel wheels and P255/65R17 Michelins. I want to change the wheels but keep the tires. From what Discount Tire told me, the offset on the factory wheels is 44mm which makes the backspacing about 5.5"

The 17x8 Procomp wheels I am looking at have a backspacing of 4.5". I am assumming that these will fit my truck fine, but I am wondering if it will cause the tires to stick out past the fender or get sucked further in.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the offset on the OEM wheel is 44mm, that would put the BS measurement at 5.73". Going to wheels with a 4.5" BS will move the inside edge of the wheel out by around 1.23".

So short answer = the tires will stick out past the fenders a little.

Thanks, also, since the wheel is 1 inch wider, does that mean that the tires would actually stick out an extra half inch to 1.73"?
