anyone now why ford put this little buble of plastic on the intake?

This has to do with how Ford changed the Blow off of boost pressure in the 2013 and newer trucks. They didn't use that port anymore, so Ford just cast it closed. Must have been cheaper to machine the dies for that part to close it off vs making whole new dies I'm guessing....

cool now i know, it might be that because ford has to manufacture parts for i think 10 years after a model is discontinued it might be that they can quickly swap out that one portion and do a run of intakes for 2012 and prior trucks.
