what is a reflash??
Not a dumb question. He was a little harsh on you, not sure why.
A reflash is usually done for odd transmission behavior. It's done at the dealer and it re-programs the trucks brain(computer) to behave differently. New parameters are programmed in telling the transmission to shift at certain speeds, rpm's, or load conditions, etc.
I'm sure there is more to it, but that's all I know.

Yeah, I know. I thought the dude was having a bad day and really wasn't very informative. Any way thanks for th response I think I have a better understanding now.
The electronics on your truck has firmware, which is basically the instructions for how the electronics does it's job, contained in a ROM (Read Only Memory) flash memory module. If the electronics are doing they are not supposed to do they may not be reading the ROM correctly. The Re-flash is that they are re-writing the firmware onto the ROM module.
Noob here but not to this question.

Thanks for the answer.

Absolutely.
It can be either an upgrade or to make a bug fix (corrective action).
The software people, Ford's in this case, will continue to work on the firmware and they will make changes to improve the way the firmware works.
