Credit unions generally considered a new vehicle to be any current or previous model year under a certain number of miles.

They were actually giving good advice for most people.
I used to work at a dealer and the reason is simple, the selling dealer gets a percentage kickback if they can convince someone to use Ford credit, most times they make more money thru financing than the actual sale of the vehicle. That is a FACT!

Securing ones own financing is the least expensive way to go in ALL cases.

Is that why they INSIST you must keep the loan active for 3 months, when the contract says you can pay it off at any time?

I didn't get into the fine details as I was not interested in dealing with anyone other than my credit union, the way they kept pushing FC on me kind of pissed me off and almost cost them the sell. They are damned lucky I was patient (already fell in love with the truck by that time) LOL

Everyone will have different needs and/or wants. My reasons are none of any ones business.

It truly is what they call a case by case basis. I have dealt with FC in the past and their service was less than stellar. Granted it was 10 years ago but once a bad taste always a bad taste. Main reason I'll never own another Chrysler product.

Totally not the case. Showing up with financing does nothing if you know your credit score and checked rates before you walk in the dealership. I knew I could get financing at the best rate available based on my credit and I knew the rates from bankrate. I actually have had 2 dealerships beat the credit union rate several years ago. If you know the rates and what you qualify for they can't pull the wool over your eyes. Just dont bring up financing until a final price for trade and everything is settled.

Seriously, take Ford financing for the extra discount, go to credit. ford. com 2 days later, contact them o get an acct number and you can have the loan transferred in another 2 days at new car rates. By turning down ford credit you threw $1000 away. Don't feel bad. They tell all kinds of lies to get you to not do this and tell you it wont work. Contact your credit union and read the contract. You can't lose.

Don't get me wrong. A bad experience is a valid reason not to go back to them but don't misinform people that they will lose out by taking ford credit then doing an immediate transfer.

Was putting my personal experience with FMC out there so people will make an informed decision. Nothing more.

I've never found x plan pricing to be better than what I can get around here. $52,000 MSRP I got it for $37,400. No x plan.

I'm not sure what a "high dollar" trade is, but they have me $46,000 and $48,000 for my last 2 trade ins.

That's pretty much what I experienced when I bought my truck a month ago.

I asked them to run the numbers both ways and even the salesman was shocked when he came back and showed me the figures. With x-plan I would have been @ 32k out the door.

With my financing already set up and no x-plan I walked out the door @ 29.9k.

Substantial savings for me NOT using x-plan and utilizing my own financing.
