So driving down a hill in town, for whatever reason, I decided to pump my gas 3 times... My 2011 FX4 5.0L decided it would then shift from 5th gear to 2nd gear with RPMs through the roof, like an engine brake. Of course, I tried it again and the same thing, everytime. I could see it dropping down a gear, maybe thinking that I'm looking for a passing gear, but dropping from 5th to 2nd is pretty dramatic. Did I break it?
I'm trying to think of any reason I would want to pump the gas pedal 3 times going downhill, and can't. Just let off the gas and coast as much as possible to save as much wear as possible on the brakes.
What did you expect??? When you floor a drive by wire vehicle (esp 3 times!!!) once it senses you’ve done that it’s dropping down to 1st or 2nd gear and going wide open throttle? You’ve input Wide Open Throttle 3 times consecutively......what else would it do other than downshift and rev to redline? WTF lol.
