Default What causes exhaust drone?

On my 2002 F150 5.4 I had a shop cut in a manga flow muffler. It sounded great on startup and acceleration but had zero drone. I want to replicate that. If i do the same on my 2013 5.0 how can I be sure I get the same result?

I'm not sure you can get zero drone. Internal resonance is always there, you just may notice it a lot less. Putting in the same Magnaflow you had should give you a similar result. There's several models, usually the bigger you go the less drone you get.

I have a 13 5.0 with a Magnaflow system and zero drone, they sell a catback system which is actually a resonator back system because it replaces everything from the resonator back, just slide the old pipe off and new pipe on, clamp tight and roll.

No other components required if you go single in dual or single out unless you want the two pipes going out the back on each side, that requires an extra hanger that I think is included, on mine I went SI/DO but on the same side so no other parts were needed.

Took me about 30 mins in my driveway to install, I have an air compressor and tools that make the job easier but can be done with out, you just have to tighten the hell out of the pipe clamps with a cheater pipe for leverage.

Love the way it sounds and looks.

I still want to meet up, buy you a beer and take a ride in your truck to see how the Maggy is. On this truck I'm very picky about the exhaust note that I want and I dont want to drop the coin on a kit and not like it.

I have a magnaflow cat back on my 2009. Drone is pretty bad. I have a AFE intake too, which makes it worse. Love it when you step on it... Lol

Towing, however, can be pretty painful sometimes...

Put the resonator back on, but that's no guarantee due to your 4.6/5.4 being a different breed of engine than the new 2011-14 (5.0)
