Default What cat damage?

So I have a 2014 EcoBoost with the xl+ package. I've dealt with the condensation issue, done the weep hole and got a lot of water out. That being said, I'm still having the misfire under heavy load and need to change the plugs.
what damage is done to the cat when this happens? I know its part of the tsb, but does it "need" to be replaced? My truck is under warranty so I can take it in but would rather not deal with them.

I would start with the new plugs. How many mile are on the truck?
Use Motorcraft 534’s gapped at .030 and replace the boots also. It’s an easy job on the Ecoboost.
Are you getting any trouble codes?

Thank you Mike, definitely a good place to start. Do you happen to know why the drivers side cat is involved in the repair? Does this create a clogging/flow restriction? Or does it contaminate the cat causing it to not function as an emission device properly?

btw, I'm back in Mi now but I lived in Davidson county for a decade. I miss it horribly.

quick edit: my truck has 130,000 miles, it was leased before I bought it. I have all of the service records, it was meticulously maintained by a dealership but this issue was never addressed, which makes me believe they babied the hell out of it.

I’m not really sure why the cat would be involved. With that many miles, even in a well maintained engine, you might even be dealing with dirty MAP sensors.
There are plenty of You Tube videos on how to clean them.
If I were you, I’d do the plugs first ( forced induction engines are hard on plugs. Can’t understand why Ford says 100k mile service intervals for plugs).
If you’re still having an issue, check and clean those sensors ( there are 3 of them ).
No codes? No CEL?

sorry, missed that. Yes, I did get a cel, multiple misfire. Dont remember the exact code now but I had to re-create the fault twice to get the cel to stay on.

I have 90k miles on my ‘13 3.5. I never had the misfire issue but at 80k, I drilled the weep hole and some nasty stuff came out of the CAC. I also inspected the 3 sensors and they looked pretty dirty so I cleaned them. The big surprise was when I decided to do the plugs. Gaps were supposed to be .030 and at 80k miles, the tightest gap was about .040 and some were close to .050”!
Check those plugs. They are probably all over the place. Do yourself a favor, when you do the plugs, change the boots also. They are cheap.

I appreciate the good advice from Mike from TN, but I'm bumping this to hopefully gain a little more knowledge about the cat itself.
Does anyone know why they include the cat, and only the one side in the tsb?
Curiosity is driving me crazy on this.
