Looking at getting, or making one to haul my MTB around without it rolling around in the bed and getting all dinged up.

Post pics of what you have plz.

I have the Yakima locking bed heads. They are very secure and easy to install/use. I will take a few pics tonight.

This is basically a square load bar with bike fork mounts attached to it.

Beercan,

I am so happy to see you do not have a receiver hitch bike mount on a TRUCK

Lol.... Last thing I need is some one slamming into the back of me and crushing my $2500 bike.

And I was thinking of doing just what you did. What fork clamps do you have?

I have two of the yakima locking blockheads fastened to a 2x8, works nicely for our MB's.I like the idea of the locking bedheads, not sure how it would work with the tonneau cover being there.

I use the Thule Insta-gator in my Ranger. Its made to mount in between the bed and tailgate, but I wanted it to be mounted all the time, without being in my way. I drilled two holes in the base of the Insta-gator and welded two bolts, threads up at the front of my bed. This way I can screw it down and leave it or take it out. The clamping system is awesome. I like that I don't have to remove my front rim. Ima buy two more for my 150.

I have not installed mine yet, but here is what I'll do:
Just got my F-150 two weeks ago, traded in the Tacoma. See below for my Tacoma bike carrier. It will essentially be transferred over to the F-150, with the exception of how it is attached. I installed bed rails on the F-150, and got Yakima rail grabs. The carrier holds 4 bikes total as it is right now.
I'll post pics when it is transferred over. What I like about it is that my bed is still available for coolers, firewood, camping gear, etc when we go camping with the TT.

I will take some pics of what I did on my F-150 tomorrow for you to see. It was a little labor intensive but is exactly what I wanted and have a secure place for hauling all my bikes.

What MTB do you have?
