Default What is the 5.0 Coyote reference from?

I have seen it in magazines and in some profile signatures but what does it mean. Are all 5.0 motors Coyotes or are they modified? Thanks.

Coyote was the code name for the 5.0 while it was in development. That's where it comes from

Anyone know why Coyote? Cleveland, Windsor, Modular are all terms related to plant's, locations or manufacturing protocols (I believe) but why Coyote?

It's actually still considered a Modular engine just like the 03/04 Cobra is a Modular engine but they were named terminators by Ford that was just their "code" name for the project.

So some group of pencilpushers just picked it out of thin air I'm guessing. Well at least they didn't come up with something stupid sounding like Merkur or Mustang Mayhem

The larger V8's are codenamed "Boss". Not sure where they come up with the naming though. Probably sitting around a bar table on a Friday afternoon.

Fox Body, S95, New Edge, S197, Coyota, Terminator, Boss, there's lots of codenames for Ford products.
