I traded my cummins for an ecoboost mostly because I was sick of replacing front end parts and having the death wobble, but it had plenty of power and great fuel mileage. I'm loving my Eco so far, but I did have to replace cac already, but I still love it

I've heard other diesel converts here say that the EB tows a lot like a diesel when it comes to the rpm's it turns.
My EB can pull an 8,500 pound TT up almost any hill in 4th gear at 2,900 rpm and a little over 60 mph.
I'd be interested in your comparison as to towing, shifting and rpm usage. I think that the little EB (remember, it's only 213.6 cubic inches!!!) is an amazing engine, and its torque curve very much resembles that of a diesel.

This is probably the reason why people say it reminds them of a diesel if you had an older one. Coupled with the 6R80 6-speed transmission, it has more torque going to the rear end from 1st to 4th than a 2005-2006 Ram Cummins with 48RE 4-speed. Amazing what a few extra gears will allow you to do.

2005-2006 Ram 2500/3500 Diesel
325 hp @ 2,900 RPM
610 lb-ft @ 1,600 RPM

48RE (4 speed) Automatic Transmission

Gear / Ratio / Engine Torque multiplier
1st / 2.45 / 1,494.5 lb-ft
2nd / 1.45 / 884 lb-ft
3rd / 1.00 / 610 lb-ft
4th / .69 / 420.9 lb-ft

2011-2013 Ford F150 Ecoboost
365hp @ 5,000 RPM
420 lb-ft @ 2,500 RPM

6R80 (6 speed) Automatic Transmission

Gear / Ratio / Engine Torque multiplier
1st / 4.17 / 1,751.4 lb-ft
2nd / 2.34 / 982.8 lb-ft
3rd / 1.52 / 638.4 lb-ft
4th/ 1.14 / 478.8 lb-ft
5th / .86 / 361.2 lb-ft
6th / .69 / 289.8 lb-ft

Great choice with the Eco. Here in Northern California I now see more Eco's on the road then std 5.0's. I think that in itself tells you how well the motor is performing. As for the issues people have come across, it's unfortunate and it sucks. I have been in the same scenario with other vehicles.

I tow 5500 lbs with my 3.7 V6 which is the base engine. I'm pretty sure the eco could handle 6000 lbs

having owned 2 Cummins Dodge trucks, a 95 12valve 5speed [great truck] and a 07 24valve automatic [not so much] and now a 2011 xlt eco I don't think you will be disappointed.

kg, now, somebody is finally speaking my language about the Ecoboost! Finally, a bit of mileage - 130,000, now we're getting up there where I like to take my trucks! None of this, "I have 56,000 trouble free miles, blah, blah, blah..." mess! That's just the kind of talk (130,000 miles, etc.) that will get me into any engine, Ecoboost or whatever.
