Default Weird Sync Issues

I have a 2013 f150 with the 4" screen. Every once in a while (3-4 months like clockwork) my bluetooth will randomly disconnect and the voice commands will stop working, but it will still tell me " you can say things like.... blah blah blah" it will show that music is playing but no sounds come out. I remedy this by disconnecting battery for a few minutes and it fixes it.

This most recent time I did this, a new issue started of any time I get a text (text notifications are turned off) it will disconnect my bluetooth and say no bluetooth device found, and I have to say bluetooth audio again and give it a second to reconnect. Obvious first step would be to disconnect the battery again, but is this issue common?

I don't care to upgrade the radio/screen as I will likely upgrade in a few years.

You've discovered the REAL sync. It sucks bulls *****. I've had my truck since day 1 and there's no hope to make it work the way we want it to. Even a few Ford execs admitted how awful the system is from experience with their own personal vehicles.

I have upgraded to Sync3. Tonight, during one of my many stops/starts of the truck while working, the audio just stopped. I was actually listening to old terrestrial radio at the time, tried several stations, no sound. Next time I started it up, the audio was back.

I still keep getting disconnected on bluetooth when I get a text in a group message.. so basically every couple minutes when driving. Doesn't matter if I mute all notifications or turn on airplane mode either. This happened so randomly and I can't find anything else on it. Battery disconnect isn't helping like previous sync issues and it doesn't happen in a single text thread either.

You can try the latest and last update Ford put out for the system you have. I saved the files. It's v4.6 located on this link,.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rG_...ew?usp=sharing

Download and unzip the file to a thumb drive. DO NOT unzip any of the files within. Follow these instructions.
  1. Take the USB drive with the software updates to your vehicle. Turn on your vehicle, and then turn on the radio.

Make sure your vehicle is in a well-ventilated area. Your vehicle will need to be turned on, with the engine running between ten and thirty five minutes. Make sure that your vehicle is not in Accessory mode.
  2. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone if it is in the vehicle.
  3. Plug the USB drive in to your vehicle’s USB port. Make sure it is completely plugged into the port.
  4. Press the Phone button in the vehicle.
  5. Scroll to Return.
  6. Press OK.
  7. Scroll to Advanced.
  8. Press OK.
  9. Scroll to Install Application.
  10. Press OK.
  11. SYNC automatically detects the files on your USB drive and then displays “Install Application?” Press OK to confirm.
  12. SYNC displays “Installing Application” during the process. Do not remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle while this update is in progress. Shortly after installation has begun, SYNC says “Your download is in progress and the system may reboot several times during the update. Please wait up to 10 min until you hear your SYNC system update was completed. You may then use SYNC.” Ignore this message. It refers to a specific phase of the installation, not the overall update process. While the update is loading, SYNC will not recognize your mobile phone or media device.
  13. In another approximately 10 minutes (timing may vary per update), SYNC says “Installation Complete.” SYNC may also say, “Your SYNC system update is complete. The system will now reboot. Please wait a few moments before trying to use the system.” The system then reboots, which takes several minutes. Do not attempt to use SYNC during this time.
  14. SYNC displays “Installation Complete.” Press MENU to exit installation mode.

It is now safe to remove your USB drive.
  15. Once you have installed the SYNC software updates, you’ll need to pair your phone again. To complete the process, take the USB drive to your computer to report the successful installation.
That is the same version for my wife's 2014 Escape and my truck. The biggest difference we noticed in both vehicles was the enhanced sound quality. Other than that sync still blows. I call it stync.
