Weird change after exhaust
It may be completely coincidental, and maybe I'm reading too far into it... But after I put my catback system on, my transmission has been acting different. Especially when cold. When cruising around, it used to chase itself to 5th and 6th as fast as it could. Now it holds 4th for an exceptionally long time. Also- highway cruising- seems to downshift more often- doesn't like to hold gears. It doesn't feel weak or slushy, just noticeably different.
Anyone experience anything similar or is it perhaps a coincidence?

I will agree with 100. Without the catback these trucks are quiet. The only way i could see the funky shifting/converter lockup was with the gears selected in the center screen.
Now you can here the gear changes/torque converter lockup. Actually pretty annoying. Afermarket tune has cleared that up though.

You probably shifted your powerband by putting on a larger exhaust. You lost a little torque down low and gained a few hp up top. Pretty common when putting on a larger diameter exhaust. A tune will help raising your shift points unlike the lazy stock tune that's optimized to shift at a lower rom to keep mpg up. Drive it hard and it will help for a while.

My 5.4 with a SI/SO Magnaflow catback does the same thing. 1-2, 2-3 is fine, but 3rd gear likes to stick til about 3,000-3,500 rpms into 4th gear. All the others shift at about 2,000-2,5000 rpms. I took it into the dealership and they said it was fine. It does bug me though
