when it launches a plug it almost always destroys the threads - it's been loose in that cylinder for a while, bouncing around, ruining the threads until it finally achieved escape velocity.

Going forward if you hear anything like an exhaust leak - check your plugs

You would need a shop to install an insert - you CAN use a helicoil but it's not recommended - there is no mechanical means to prevent the helicoil from backing out with the plug in the future. Time Cert or Lock n Stitch are the preferred solutions. They can be installed with the head still on the truck, make sure they use an aluminum insert with the aluminum head. Check your other plugs.

We used helicoil on a car long long time ago. Maybe even 2 cylinders?
Anyway, that was a weak 4-cylinder. I never knew about any other other things mentioned above, however my dad made a life of fixing things so out comes the helicoil kit in the driveway and soon after it was back on the road!
I never had problems with that again. Thinking about it, I'm sure it was just the one hole that went bad. I remember that day well.

If you are good with thread repair and are able to take precautions to not cut threds and have the shavings go into the cylinder, you can do it at home. Otherwise yeah you'll want somebody experienced to fix it. You may need to call around -make sure the quote isn't for head removal.

That is a bit odd of a situation the 09 and 10 3v engines don't have spark plug issues normally as those are one piece plugs with lots of thread material in the head.
I'm pretty sure it will be repairable as what I suspect has happened is the thread piled previously and someone powered it in last plug change and hoped for the best.
You should be able to drive it to a shop yet with just one plug missing if you don't want to tackle it yourself.
I doubt you will find an insert for that application you may have to use a regular helicoil, which by the way there is nothing wrong with but they have to be installed perfectly straight.
Years ago that is all there was helicoil brand for this type of repair, the one bad thing about them is the install tang you have to break that off after install and you really don't want that dropping into the cylinder.
Time sert looks like they have a repair kit for the 09-10 3v engines maybe go with that.
