If you open the door you see the two main metal hinges. Up closer to the top hinge is a ribbed plastic bar that connects to the door and goes inside the door jamb.

Number #1 I cannot believe something like that is made out of plastic.
Number #2 The door has never been opened way other then normal
Number #3 How does Ford know it was not damaged at the dealer ship or in transport. The part could have been fractured and has finally broken

How should handle this and whom do I speak with?
My dealership had no problem gettin my 2011 Escape's fixed (it "cough" opened too far one day [riding lawnmower hit it and pushed it open]) under warranty. Maybe just the dealer? Took a whole 1/2-1hr to fix it, and mine was making a "clunk" sound when it was being closed. I even told them it was probably opened too far (though I skipped the how part).
