No, HID bulbs in halogen housings or aftermarket HID retrofits, they’re about equally crappy to be on the receiving end of them.

the first one yes (obviously), the other - no. if all is properly aligned - it's not "crappy". you want people to drive with halogens only? you can't put those who just stick HID/LED bulbs in halogen housings in the same category as properly retrofitted and aimed lights.

i've yet to see someone with a proper retrofit in my area, not sure where you live?

So then youre blinded by close to 50% of all newer cars on the road that have factory hid apparently...

With the prevalence of cheap HID kits out on eBay, many of which cost less than what a single OEM housing costs, it isn’t reaching to estimate that probably 3-4 out of every 5 retrofits isn’t done properly. I get that some of you probably have spent the money required to do it right, but you are likely in the minority.

Yes, some halogen setups suck. My TJs headlights use old sealed beam halogen lamps and you can drive with the high beams on and not get flashed most of the time (not that I do regularly) because they’re just that bad. But most are completely adequate, and some of the projector halogens are quite good.

No, but there are some OEM HIDs that are designed to a price point, and are prone to leveling slowly or have a beam pattern that directs too much light upwards. Most are fine.

A cheap Chinese eBay HID kit thrown in a halogen housing with no projector isn't a retrofit.
