I am wanting to either swap to the 6 bar chrome, or the FX2 black plastic grill.. Would it be possible for me to keep my surround, and just buy the inserts? Or am I going to need to buy the surround and all

 

u probably want to just buy the hole grill. i believe you have to cut the plastic center out. its not screws that hold it in place. its just one plastic molded piece. im sure you can. but it would take you a while and probably have to plastic weld it together.

 

I think you'll need to but the whole grille but you should be able to use your surround. When I bought my replacement it was a two piece kit. The surround clipped onto the main piece.

 

You don't have to cut anything, you can keep your painted surround. Just be very careful the plastic clips will break. I have the Harley insert and kept my fx4 painted surround. Took me about an hour to take off and put the Harley on.

 

My bad if your talking about the chrome xlt grille it doesn't snap out, if your talking about the fx2 or fx4 painted surround it does.

 

Can you order just the insert though? I wouldnt mind switching toa platinum grill either...just something different than my FX4
