Default Volume **** Issue

I just replaced my 2011 f150 truck stereo unit with a 2012 OEM unit and everything works good except the volume **** doesn't work. It can turn the sound on and off but the volume level doesn't change it's just stuck on loud. I tired replacing the faceplate buttons and replacing fuses but the issues has not been fixed. The truck I parted out for the radio the **** still worked properly. I don't know if it's because of the change in year even though it's the same generation of truck. I would love some advice.

Which parts did you actually swap? ACM, APIM, FDIM would be the full radio swap, generally speaking. That's the audio module, the control module attached to the screen, and the screen. Unless it's the totally base model.

Problem's the APIM, I think. The physical ***** and buttons on the dash (FCIM) are actually digital, and the steering wheel buttons follow a different path. Both into a computer that changes the volume. So, if it used to work, and the other buttons still do, it's doubtful that something is wrong with the FCIM. It's the module you just installed. Perhaps ACM, APIM can be reset with forscan to wake it up.

I swapped the radio unit and face plate. If it is a deeper issue would that be wiring or computer issues?

Computer. If you have access to forscan, try a reset of them first.
