When I got the truck brand new, the vacuum pump (you know, that thing behind the headlight that boosts the brakes, and makes a compressor/barfridge sound) was very quiet and you could barely hear it. Now it's become extremely loud and I can hear it and feel it in the cabin. It turns on and runs for awhile then clunks when it stops. I've driven a few higher mile Ecoboosts with the same problem. Just wondering if anyone knows what causes it to become louder and if it can be replaced under warranty?

 

I've seen a few 6.0 & 6.4 diesels that were loud too. I doubt ford would replace it unless it totally fails.

 

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. It's just a little bothersome and I'm not exactly sure why it does that.

 

I saw a thread on another forum where a guy had the pump fail. The pump was on national backorder and his truck sat at the dealer for a month. Good news... pump finally came in a couple days ago and he got his truck back.
