Default Vacuum pump

Hi everyone i just recently purchased a 2014 f150 fx2 crew cab truck love the truck but i juat recently took it to a dealership for a recall that was on it for the transmission down shift.but i got a call from the dealer saying the do multipoint inspection on vehicles when there broughtbin said both my valve covers need replaced. I said ok thanks but not paying 2100 dollars to replace valve covers. So i was looking under the hood to see if i could see where might be leaking cause i seen where the vacuum pumps are bad about leaking to my suprise the vacuum pump is plugged with a screw can anyone tell me what this does and why would someone plug it off thanks

Is your 3.5 EcoBoost?
I bought mine at 125K and it came with the vacuum pump and valve cover leaks. I replaced the vacuum pump; it's hard to reach back there, I have to lay down on my stomach across the engine to get to the 3 bolts that are holding it up.
Valve cover, don't bother with just the gasket get the OEM one with gaskets already installed.
You'll most likely crack the valve cover on removable.

it's probably the valve cover that's leaking and making it look like it's the vacuum pump. I replaced my vacuum pump but that didn't fix the issue. I replace the whole valve cover and that fixed my issue. $2100 is crazy price though for parts that should be no more than $300 for both sides.

When i was need of my valve covers they were out of stock everywhere. finally snatched one on Amazon. It's very easy to replace, i only did the passenger side. Save those 8mm bolts, will become handy in future.
